ABOUT LOWANNA YARNS
Welcome to Lowanna Yarns! My name is Sue and I feel very lucky to call southern lutruwita/Tasmania my home.

Lowanna Yarns has been running since 2018 and I have always sought to produce vibrant colours on bases that are ethically sourced. If the yarn can't be traced to it's source, I don't supply it.
My main suppliers are Chester Wool Company in the UK and White Gum Wool here in Tassie. I like their ethics as well as the quality of their product. I am always on the look out for suppliers closer to home that can match these qualities.

I find using yarn such a tactile experience and as such, all my yarns are soft and beautiful to use. My superwash yarns use an insect resin rather than plastic so they are completely biodegradable. My sock yarns do use a percentage of nylon for strength.

All my dye lots are individual and as such I do not provide colourways. The beauty of hand dyed yarns is how unique these results are and all the quirks that come with it. Generally I will dye in lots of four however I am able to dye a larger amount if you are needing enough for a certain project.

I am delighted to bring you a small number of handspun yarns. These are spun by myself on an Ashford espinner, using fibre I have also handdyed. They will only be available from time to time due to the number of hours they take to complete.

If you wish to try your hand at spinning you may want to buy some of my handdyed fibre. It is a dream to use, whether it is on a spindle, traditional wheel or espinner.
So enjoy browsing the site and of course feel free to contact me with any questions, I'm happy to help!
